Nine, in truth, is actually the heir to a magical kingdom in Skylands, with their birth father being the land's beloved king. However, when they were still very young, their uncle staged a coup to steal the crown, resulting in a war that lead to their father's death and their uncle plunging the land into tyranny and disrepair.
