Initially, it is thought that one of the other portal master apprentices was the culprit (with the one suspected being based on early-game choices), but in actuality they were set up by Brain, the true culprit and overarching villain of the next story arc. After he's found out, he flees the Academy with his spoils, all of which are resources about Skylands' most ancient legends and myths, and our heroes follow him before the game fades out with a teaser for Down to Earth's sequel, Time and Space.
