Fan Casting Jartran Radd in Silver Surfer

Jartran Radd was Norrin Radd's father, named after Norrin Konn, also known as Father of Zenn-La, who was a leader in a civil war on Zenn-La. His wife, Elmar, committed suicide because she was ill-suited to the stifling environment of Zenn-La. Jartran became particularly ambitious after her death and raised their son Norrin as a grimly intellectual youth, encouraging him to seek knowledge, advancement, and achievement rather than the aimless hedonism which had come to dominate Zenn-Lavian society; however, a disgraced Jartran later committed suicide himself after he was accused of idea theft (though not before he had taken a new lover and fathered another son, Fennan, unknown to Norrin).
