Seeing the impending doom Earth is about to face, the Wizard, a mystical being who harnessed the power of the Greek Gods, sees he needs to find a new host for this power, soon, someone who's worthy and pure. So the Wizard finds Billy Batson, a teenager living in a foster home with other orphan children, and seeing how he defends these kids and his heart of a hero, decides to bestow him with the powers of Captain Marvel. Sensing that the Wizard has finally decided on a host, the long resting Teth-Adam finally wakes and tries to find whoever this new host is. He then sees a news outlet showing something that Superman did and sets out to fight him. When he does, he beats Superman in a surprise attack, then Superman leaves to recover after this. Seeing this, Billy knows he has to help his idol and flies to Metropolis to fight Teth-Adam. Superman joins and they fight together against Adam. When they beat him, Superman flies away and Adam goes back to his country, disappointed he wasn't better than Captain Marvel. But, when he gets back to where he came from, the country Kahndaq, he sees that the government has been overruled by the people, who were faithful of the legend of the Black Adam and they name him their king.
