Corporate Attorney Derek is Lucy’s fiancé at the beginning of the film. Charming, successful, and outwardly confident, he has always projected the image of the ideal partner. Beneath that polished exterior, however, lies a man who has grown increasingly complacent and selfish. His affair exposes the cracks that had long existed beneath the surface of his relationship with Lucy. Though he initially attempts to justify his actions, Derek is eventually forced to confront the consequences of betraying the woman who loved him unconditionally.
