Synopsis

A maverick British officer leads a squad of crack shots on special operations in the Peninsular War against Napoleon's occupying forces in Spain and Portugal. Lt Richard Sharpe has been promoted from the ranks for saving the life of Sir Arthur Wellesley. Sent behind enemy lines, he meets a beautiful female guerilla.

The oldest Chosen Man and the best shot, Hagman was a successful poacher until a run in with the law forced a change a career path into the army. Between forty and fifty years old, and missing most of his teeth. He has "a face like a grave-digger, hair down to his shoulder blades".
