William Jonas Armstrong is an English actor, best known for his role as Robin Hood in the BBC series of the same name. He has also starred in films such as Edge of Tomorrow, Book of Blood, and Walking with the Enemy. Armstrong was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1981. He moved to England when he was 10 years old. He studied drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating in 2003. Armstrong's first major television role came in 2004, when he was cast as Anthony Millington in the fourth series of the British television comedy-drama, Teachers. He then appeared in the crime drama series The Ghost Squad as Pete Maitland. In 2006, Armstrong was cast as Robin Hood in the BBC series of the same name. The series was a critical and commercial success, and Armstrong's performance was praised by critics. He remained with the series for all four seasons, which aired from 2006 to 2010. Plot for the pilot movie: An American domestic terrorist group, secretly led by a media mogul, has stolen a top-secret prototype submarine from the United States Navy. They have also hired a rogue British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) agent to steal a highly classified weapon of last resort from the British government. The terrorists plan to use both weapons to attack London and frame the United States government for the attack in an attempt to destroy the alliance between the two countries. MI6 activates Section 73, a team from its highly classified Directorate of Special Projects, to find the former agent and the weapon. The weapon is currently in transit to Miami, Florida, where Section 73 is based. Their mission is to stop the delivery of the weapon, save the kidnapped creator of the classified British weapon, and take down the rogue agent. Pilot and series are Rated TV-14 in the United States; Rated 15 in the United Kingdom; Rated 14+ in Canada.
