Angered over Mr. Fantastic being declared not guilty instead of facing justice for the destruction of the Skrull homeworld by Galactus, a Skrull named Veranke kills the king of the Skrulls, Karant Kiar, to become the Skrulls' queen and leads them to Earth for revenge. The Skrulls begin kidnapping many of Earth's heroes not only gaining their forms, but also their powers. The remaining heroes must work together to save the world and rescue the captive heroes from the Skrulls. They witness the return of Dr. Doom.
