Synopsis

A retelling of the legend of Mulan but set in Late Imperial Rome, during the barbarian invasions. In this series, Antonia runs away from her abusive relatives who are forcing her to marry a nobleman. Disguised as a boy, she unintentionally joins an assembling Roman army setting out to save the declining Western Empire from the German invaders, with aid from the treacherous Huns.

Description of General Flavius Giselric:

A Roman general of Visigothic origin who serves as the protector of the divided Roman Empire. However, because he is alone in defending the Empire from barbarians and usurpers, he reluctantly forms an alliance with the Huns to deal with his enemies, especially his rebellious son Ulfila, who aids the Western usurper Ulysses and allows Germanic invaders to enter the Western Roman Empire to get away from the Huns. Unlike his fellow generals who are neglectful, he has a strong sense of honor and justice, but is known for being ruthless towards those who question his Fabian tactics in dealing with his son. He is also known for being nonreligious as he believes religion will blind him.
