Synopsis

A retelling of the legend of Mulan but set in Late Imperial Rome, during the barbarian invasions. In this series, Antonia runs away from her abusive relatives who are forcing her to marry a nobleman. Disguised as a boy, she unintentionally joins an assembling Roman army setting out to save the declining Western Empire from the German invaders, with aid from the treacherous Huns.

Description of Emperor Valerius:

The lazy, headstrong, irresponsible and hedonistic Emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire, and Saturninus's older brother. Much like his brother, he is also gullible, as he is manipulated by the corrupt bureaucrats dominating the imperial court of the East. As a result, he neglected most of the Eastern Empire's enemies, particularly the Persian Empire.
