Synopsis

A retelling of the legend of Mulan but set in Late Imperial Rome, during the barbarian invasions. In this series, Antonia runs away from her abusive relatives who are forcing her to marry a nobleman. Disguised as a boy, she unintentionally joins an assembling Roman army setting out to save the declining Western Empire from the German invaders, with aid from the treacherous Huns.

Description of Antonia:

The brave and inquisitive daughter of a Roman general who died during Emperor Aquila's war to unite the Roman Empire. She is now under the care of her annoying and abusive relatives in the Eastern Roman Empire. When she is forced to marry a man she barely knows, she runs away disguised as a boy. She then unintentionally joins a Roman army assembling under General Giselric who is marching out with his Hunnic allies to fight his son who has deposed the Western Emperor. In secret, she continues worshipping the old Roman gods as she believes that they are as alive as Jesus and the saints.
