Fan Casting Shade, the Changing Man in Return to the DC Universe

Hailing from the parallel dimension of Meta, Rac Shade was accused of a crime he didn't commit back home, and fled, taking the unique technology of the M-Vest with him to try to prove his innocence. Though he is stuck on Earth currently, even as he cleared his name, Shade fights a battle against evil and madness, with his M-Vest granting him some invulnerability, flight, the ability to distort his image to his foes, and to bend reality. Though he is unusual in his battles, he is a hero. It's all part of the life of Shade, the Changing Man.
