Fan Casting Sand in Return to the DC Universe

One of the earliest examples of a sidekick in the Golden Age of heroes, Sandy Hawkins worked side by side with his aunt Dian's boyfriend Wesley Dodds, the original Sandman and one of the founders of the JSA, until the day an experimental silicon gun of Wes's exploded and transformed Sandy. Eventually regaining his human form thanks to a team up with the JLA and JSA, Sandy would go on to honor Wes, using his geokinetic powers and skills as a detective as Sand, one of the leaders of the modern JSA.
