Even if he comes off like a rough and tumble adult, Edgar Ridgely deep down is just a kid, who was taken by Harvest for his experiments from his mother as an infant due to the potential of his metagene. What he had gone through led Edgar to take on his monstrous form as well as the psychological torture doing a number on his mind. Though he acts like he can handle what comes his way, all he really wishes for is to find his mother, and a purpose. That purpose helps when the Justice League save him and led him to the JSA Academy while they seek out his mother for him, with Edgar going by "Ridge" in his transformed state.
