In the Golden Age, Charles Halstead was the first Psycho-Pirate, who committed crimes based on emotions, before he was succeeded by Roger Hayden and the Medusa Mask. This Charles Halstead, the great-grandson of the original, is a skilled psychologist, who became jaded by life, and when he acquired the Medusa Mask to control emotions, he chose to take on the role of the Psycho-Pirate himself, as if to be compelled to do so by the Medusa Mask.
