Eve Eden grew up in an idyllic Kansas suburbs with her family. When Eve and her brother Larry were young, their mother Maureen introduced them to the Land of the Nightshades. Maureen had been the Queen of this mystical realm, but she was banished by Incubus, who would feign his death and possess Larry's body. Learning of her powers to open gates via shadows, Eve eventually would become the superhero Nightshade, absorbing a succubus to become known for her pale complexion. Now, she works with Shadowpact, facing the threats of evil magical forces.
