Doctor Danton Black was Professor Martin Stein's assistant during the development of the experimental Hudson Nuclear Power Plant until he was fired by Stein when stealing plans for the plant, and in revenge, set Stein up. Caught in the same explosion that bound Stein and Ronnie Raymond into being Firestorm, Black was affected by it, able to use bio-fission to make "duploids", dubbing himself Multiplex, being the first super-powered supervillain Firestorm fought. Now, he is part of the Suicide Squad, being a benefit as he works on his sentence.
