Fan Casting Lion-Mane in Return to the DC Universe

While on assignment for the Midway City Museum in Iran, archaeologist Edward Dawson discovered the legendary Mithra Meteorite. When he touched it, he was transformed into Lion-Mane, a lion-man bent on destroying humans. However, even as he was stopped, Edward would find other ways to become Lion-Mane once more, finding himself as part of the Secret Society as well as accepted in Africa, even as he had a rough encounter with Hawkman. Healing, Lion-Mane has not only regained his animalistic features like a lion, but he has awakened the power to control the minds of animals.
