Fan Casting Golden Pharaoh in Return to the DC Universe

British archaeologist Ashley Halberstam was at a dig in Giza when he was engulfed by a bolt of energy emanating from remnants of New God technology. The energy transformed Halberstam granting him the "Power of the Pyramids", as channeled through his magical staff, leading him to take the name of the Golden Pharaoh. With his staff, Golden Pharaoh is able to channel powerful energies for many uses, though he must reconnect with pyramids to tap into their unique energies to continue the fight for justice.
