Albert Michaels acquired the position as Chief Administrator of S.T.A.R. Labs Metropolis, although he was also an infiltrator for the hi-tech criminal organization SKULL, who aided him with a disorder causing seizures in his brain which was routed via an implant. Eventually, the implant malfunctioned, turning Michaels' head into a skull, with his becoming the Atomic Skull, harnessing his own bioelectricity using his radium-powered brain implant and converts it into atomic energy projected through his visor, as he serves SKULL, having battled Superman among other heroes.
