Fan Casting Animal Man in Return to the DC Universe

Caught in an explosion from an alien ship while hunting, Bernhard "Buddy" Baker would be incinerated instantly, if not for the ship's occupants reconstituting his body with morphogenetic grafts, which would link Buddy to the Red, the morphogenetic field that governs all animal life. With this gift, Buddy could take on the attributes of animals no matter where he was. With this gift, he became a superhero, calling himself Animal Man. In his battle against evil, Animal Man also is a compassionate defender of animal rights and all life everywhere.
