Supergirl, also known as the Girl of Steel, is one of the most powerful superheroes in the DC Universe and the cousin of Superman. Born as Kara Zor-El on the dying planet Krypton, her parents Zor-El and Alura sent her in a rocket to Earth to protect her younger cousin Kal, but the rocket traveled more slowly and she arrived on Earth decades after Superman has landed. She was adopted by the Danvers family and eventually became the protector of National City and a reporter at CatCo Worldwide Media known as Kara Danvers. Her Pre-Flashpoint version was also known as Kara Kent, and her Pre-Crisis version was known as Linda Lee.
