David is the protagonist of this story—a young man working in a record store who has always felt a need to help others and, consequently, admires superheroes. He is somewhat naive but kind-hearted. His life takes an unexpected turn when, while trying to help a homeless man, he gains the power to create portals to anywhere—an amazing ability, were it not for the fact that he becomes the target of an organization intent on hunting him down and stripping him of his powers. It is then that he discovers the truth about the world and the existence of "The Veil," an organization that eliminates superheroes. With the help of three unconventional heroes, it now falls to him to reveal the truth about this organization and rescue the heroes who remain in captivity.
