As revealed near the end, Poipole never truly felt like she belonged in the Pokemon world, and greatly missed her homeworld—however, before she could return, her partner pulled her away from the portal back home and unintentionally stranded her in the Pokemon world out of fear of losing her. Though she tried to adjust, she only grew more homesick and bitter, something that eventually led to her and her partner having a dispute that irreparably ruined their friendship, and led to her throwing herself into research to do whatever she could to return home... No matter the cost.
