Khan is the father of Tola, Bryn, and Juno and the leader of an ape tribe that broke away from Caesar and fled to the Rocky Mountains. He was once one of Koba's followers in his destructive war on humanity, but after Caesar defeated Koba, Khan became torn between his allegiances to Caesar and the elders and after watching countless apes die in the fighting, he took the elders' advice and fled from Caesar with his family to look for a new home. Khan's wife was eventually killed by a human soldier, and the tribe went looking for the humans as revenge, but after finding them to have disappeared, they continued their search for a new home and eventually found sanctuary in the Rocky Mountains.
