As a child, Welch appeared in many television commercials. At the age of 10, he auditioned for the voice of Tails in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, landing his first and only voice acting job. He was replaced in the Sonic Christmas Blast TV special by Chris Turner due to his changing voice. Welch stopped acting at the age of 13, and is now a sales representative for a food distributor in Vancouver.
