Grusha was once a professional snowboarder until an accident put him out of the field for good, and now, being a Gym Leader is all he has left. He's constantly haunted by the thought of losing the only thing he has left, and when he's afflicted by Ting-Lu's curse, that fear takes him over and turns him into an icy monster that threatens to freeze all of Paldea before he can lose anything else.
