Joanna Stayton is an heiress who takes her wealthy life for granted. She hires a widowed carpenter, Dean Proffitt, to repair her closet. However, they get into a heated argument because of Joanna's attitude. Later that night, she falls overboard to retrieve her ring and gets amnesia. Dean then comes up with the idea of tricking her to believing that they're married. As the heiress lives the married life and takes care of Dean's 4 kids, she becomes more accustomed to the working class life he has.
