Jefferson is fully aware of the curse and his former Fairy Tale life, and greatly desires to return to Fairy Tale Land. He is estranged from his daughter, Grace / Paige, who does not know that he is her father. He is in possession of the hat that he used in Fairy Tale Land to open the portal to Wonderland, but lacks the magic to use it. He kidnaps Emma in hopes that she can make a magic hat for him.
