Aaron Boone suffers from recurring nightmares of a subterranean city of monsters known as Midian. After being falsely accused of a string of serial murders, Boone goes on the run and soon discovers that Midian and its inhabitants are very real, and after being gunned down on their doorstep by over-zealous police and subsequently reawakening in the morgue, he is accepted into their society as one of them.
