Henry Dorsett Case is a washed-up computer hacker who has been stripped of his ability to access cyberspace. He is hired by the mysterious Armitage to work for his organization. He is partnered with Molly Millions, an augmented "street samurai" and mercenary for hire. Case and Molly have to deal with Peter Riviera, a psychopathic artist who can project holographic illusions, and the powerful artificial intelligence Wintermute and Neuromancer.
