The My Lai massacre was a war crime committed by the United States Army on March 16, 1968. Between 347 and 504 unarmed civilians (old men, women, children, and infants) were murdered by US soldiers. It was the largest publicized massacre of civilians by US forces in the 20th century.read more

Varnado Simpson (1948 – 1997) was an U.S. Army soldier who participated in the My Lai Massacre, torturing, murdering, and mutilating multiple South Vietnamese civilians. He committed suicide out of guilt nearly 30 years later.
