The My Lai massacre was a war crime committed by the United States Army on March 16, 1968. Between 347 and 504 unarmed civilians (old men, women, children, and infants) were murdered by US soldiers. It was the largest publicized massacre of civilians by US forces in the 20th century.read more

Lawrence Manley Colburn (1949–2016) was a United States Army veteran who, while serving as a helicopter gunner in the Vietnam War, intervened in the March 16, 1968 Mỹ Lai massacre, alongside his commanding officer Hugh Thompson Jr. and crew chief Glenn Andreotta.
