Kang Min Joon is the true identity of the host, suffering from dissociative identity disorder (DID) due to childhood abuse. The Mastermind, resembling him closely, is one of his personalities. Other alter egos include Mr. Robot, Min Joon's mother, Young!Min Joon, and the audience. The Mastermind acts as a vigilante hero, keeping Min Joon locked in a mental world with a loving family and friends, but his sister Jae-Hwa is missing. Recognizing the strong bond between Min Joon and Jae Hwa, the Mastermind chooses to release control and merge with other personalities, including Mr. Robot, to help Min Joon heal and become whole.
