Gil Ji-Kyong helps Min-Joon deal with anger issues caused by a traumatic incident at his previous job. Min-Joon blacked out and caused significant damage to a server room during a hazing ritual. Ji-Kyong becomes a mother figure for Min-Joon, providing support in the absence of his abusive birth mother. However, when Min-Joon and Mr. Robot reveal their involvement in the 5/9 event, Ji-Kyong cuts ties with him. Later, she is kidnapped by Dae-Jung, who is obsessed with Min-Joon. Ji-Kyong and Min-Joon repair their relationship after uncovering the truth about Min-Joon's father, Jun-Ho. Ji-Kyong ultimately saves Min-Joon from Dae-Jung's clutches.
