After being gifted a toy rabbit, Mr. Hopp, by Ruby's deceased grandmother, Nana Esther, Ruby takes a strong dislike to the toy due to his eerie appearance. After begging her father to take Mr. Hopp out of her room one night, Ruby is gently reassured and is comforted by being told that her nightlight will be left on. However, things take a dark route when her father leaves the room and her nightlight begins to flicker. After the flickering of her nightlight stops, it is revealed that Mr. Hopp has vanished along with her parents.
