MORTAL KOMBAT II

One year after the first Mortal Kombat tournament, Earthrealm's champions are summoned to Outworld by the defeated Shang Tsung, whose master, Emperor Shao Kahn, has restored his youth and powers. Knowing the invitation is a trap, Lord Raiden nevertheless leads Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Scorpion, Reptile, and new allies Jax, Kung Lao, Kitana, and the mysterious new Sub-Zero into Kahn's brutal realm, where they must survive a deadly tournament fought on enemy soil. As Liu Kang faces the savage Kintaro, the warriors encounter Baraka and Mileena while Kitana secretly reveals that Kahn's true plan is to use the tournament to begin the conquest of Earthrealm. Scorpion discovers that this Sub-Zero is actually Kuai Liang, the younger brother of the assassin he killed, forcing the two warriors to confront their shared history. Meanwhile, Johnny and Sonya's constant clashes evolve into a genuine romance as Johnny repeatedly risks his life to protect her, while Sonya's pursuit of the escaped Kano threatens to consume her. With the tournament escalating into open war, Liu Kang must defeat Kintaro and ultimately face Shao Kahn himself. In a climactic battle, Liu triumphs over the emperor, shattering his claim to Earthrealm and forcing his armies into retreat. Kitana turns against Kahn, Scorpion accepts Kuai Liang as the rightful Sub-Zero, and Reptile disappears into Outworld to search for his people. As the survivors return home, Johnny and Sonya finally acknowledge their feelings with a kiss—but Kahn's defeat has only begun a conflict that threatens to engulf every realm.
