Showing potential as a leader, Kai was brought up on the Cherokee reservations by her parents who were as doting and permissive as firm and involved when needed, so Kai is powerful in battle and courageous. Many take her not being completely idealized girly as denial of a wish fulfillment with scorn, but Kai will show them wrong piloting Terra Gundam as third-in-command of Solar Wing. Kai is the freedom-loving Newtype - one who cares about getting time over to do the things she wants to do. But she still gets along with Solar Wing, and she will play her part when it matters.
