In this retelling of Madame Butterfly set against the backdrop of the unrest in Vietnam following the war, a young girl named Kim is determined to reunite with the American G.I. whom she met days before the Fall of Saigon and who fathered her son. Meanwhile, the former owner of a brothel sets to use Kim's story to start a new life of his own in America, where unbeknownst to Kim, her beloved has married another who is helpless in trying to uncover the depths of his war trauma.
