a deadly game of hide-and-seek set within rural Arkansas in 1987-88 ('87 is mlv1 and '88 is mlv2), a black-eyed teen living in a small seemingly abandoned town tries to find ways to kill his boredom and wanders around the desolate area often. he picks up some pretty strange ways to spend the time via getting stoned on household inhalants. or shooting at random things he finds. in a numerous string of events, he encounters graphic murders of the very few remaining residents one by one, which shakes him up tremendously. finally having enough, he decides to leave in hopes of a better future. upon finding an abandoned little boy in the woods, Bill takes it upon himself to keep him safe and away from the same fate as the others around them suffered, which ultimately leads up to him taking the boy with him. journeying out to Bixby, the two must get there safely while not getting caught by the murderous inhabitants of Mirror Lake.
