Mimi is approached by John and Summer to be a surrogate mother. Mimi needs the money to help her as an aspiring actress in Bollywood. During the course of the pregnancy John attempts to sleep with Mimi but is rejected and is later furious when he finds Mimi and Summer in bed together. John and Summer seemingly reconcile but when they find out the baby may be disabled John abruptly leaves the country. Only returning years later for his son when he sees him dancing on tv. Summer and Mimi have to fight a court battle against John eventually winning the case despite anti lesbian activists supporting John
