His face was refined and elegant, his skin was teak and sunlight. His nose and black eyes said Middle Eastern, though his accent had been pure Spanish. He looked to be 23 or 24. Asil is rather wildly conceited about himself and his abilities, and not afraid to say so. But at the same time, he is in fact one of the most powerful wolves in the world. Asil was born shortly before Charles Martel (Charlemagne's grandfather) won the Battle of Tours in AD 732 (Cry Wolf), making him about 1,300 years old. There are a handful of wolves as old as he, but not many; the three elder Cornicks (Bran, Samuel, and Sherwood) may be the only wolves who are actually older.
