Canadian mutant James "Logan" Howlett was gifted with retractable bone claws, heighten sense of smell, and a powerful healing factor that grants him a slowed aging process. When captured by the Weapon X program, his body was infused with a virtually indestructible metal called "Adamantium", granting him an indestructible skeleton and metal claws. Though he spent time as Weapon X's mindless weapon, he managed to escape and became Canada's first superhero, Wolverine. He would later be recruited by mutant telepath Charles Xavier to become part of his team of mutant superheroes, the X-Men.
