The Hand was founded centuries ago by the immortal Mandarin, to serve as the “soldiers that protect the Mandarin's Head”. The assassins of the Hand carry out their master's orders as he seeks to take control of Earth to "cleanse it." Many superheroes have opposed the League of the Hand, including Daredevil, Hawkeye, Spider-Man, and, most prominently, Iron Man.
