After the events of Eternals 2, the universe remains unstable. The Celestials forced the Eternals to make a decision on who should serve as the Celestial Madonna to carry out the "reshaping" of the universe in the form of a child. The Eternals chose Mantis.
Mantis, pregnant and weakened, appears on Earth at Star-Lord's side, after the Elders of the Universe were tasked by the Celestials to control her. She narrowly escapes.
