Miss Honey is a beloved teacher at Crunchem Hall Primary School, adored by all her students, especially Matilda. Learning of Matilda's advanced skills, Miss Honey tries to provide more challenging materials. Despite Miss Trunchbull's refusal to move Matilda up a grade, Miss Honey gives her advanced textbooks and suggests tutoring. Miss Honey's own tragic past includes abusive treatment by Miss Trunchbull, causing her timidity. Matilda uses her powers to scare Miss Trunchbull away, allowing Miss Honey to reclaim her home and inheritance. Their bond grows, leading Matilda to live with Miss Honey in the end, as her own parents move away.
