Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Cassia Reyes lives an ordinary life in the Society, a picture-perfect civilization where your occupation, your spouse, and even the day of your death are all chosen by the infallible Officials. On the day of her "Matched Banquet," Cassia's joy increases exponentially when Xander Carrow, her childhood friend, is selected as her husband. But when a glitch occurs in the system, entering a second boy into her datafiles, Cassia begins to wonder...is the Society as wise as she has grown up believing? Description of Oker:

Oker is a former science Official from the Society who helped create the Plague in years past. Just before his Final Banquet, he escaped to the Rising and has since spent his years searching for a cure to the catastrophe that he has designed. When Xander shows up in his laboratory, eager to apply his recent medical experience to make a difference, Oker takes a liking to him and trusts him alone with deep and shocking secrets.
