Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Cassia Reyes lives an ordinary life in the Society, a picture-perfect civilization where your occupation, your spouse, and even the day of your death are all chosen by the infallible Officials. On the day of her "Matched Banquet," Cassia's joy increases exponentially when Xander Carrow, her childhood friend, is selected as her husband. But when a glitch occurs in the system, entering a second boy into her datafiles, Cassia begins to wonder...is the Society as wise as she has grown up believing? Follow Cassia as she fights to understand the evils that her government hides under its guise of altruism, led to the truth by people who risk their lives to show her a glimpse of what real knowledge, real love, and real choice could look like. Description of Hunter:

Hunter is an Anomaly--the only social designation more despised and feared than the Aberrations. Ky and Cassia, along with their Aberration companions, find him in an abandoned township in the Carving, burying his five-year-old daughter. He agrees to trade information and help them find the Rising, which his former Anomaly neighbors have joined. Hunter often displays abrupt and intense emotional reactions, developed from the years of trauma and loss that he has experienced. Will he be able to overcome the damage that the Society has inflicted on him? Or will his anger and grief consume him?
