Bucky Barnes was Captain America's sidekick during World War II. Bucky was thought to have been killed in action, but he was actually captured by enemy forces and rebuilt into an assassin. He eventually broke his conditioning and became a hero again. Department X scientists give Bucky Barnes a bionic arm to replace the one he lost. After undergoing hypnotic training, he is used as a secret assassin called the "Winter Soldier."
