In the early 1940s, Stephanie Rogers, a tall and scrawny comic book writer and artist from Brooklyn, is given the opportunity to join the U.S. army by Colonel Chelsea Phillips. For the super soldier project, Rogers is used as a test subject, receiving a special serum by Dr. Abigail Erskine. The serum is a success and transforms Rogers into a perfect human being with peak strength, agility, stamina, and speed. Erskine refused to write down every crucial element of the treatment, leaving behind a flawed, imperfect knowledge of the steps.
